About us

LiberaMente is a lab designed by and for young people from 16 to 25 years old that aims to promote Youth-led development.

This think-tank is working on this goal in several ways:

- Organizing seminars and discussions with experts in different fields; setting up workshops with specific participatory methodologies that develop ideas in a effective and efficient way

- Taking part at national and international meetings to exchange experiences and create and establish networks

- Planning and promoting development strategies and initiatives (e.g. the magazine Ec(h)o or the "Festival delle Resistenze", a one-week-festival with many cultural events, public debates, video projections, photographic expositions, music and artistic performances etc. - which wants to present various kinds of resistance in the contemporary world)

In the spirit of the motto "Think globally, act locally", the principles of LiberaMente express the three interweaved dimensions of "sustainable development"

- Social (Engagement - Solidarity - Multiculturality)

- Enviromental (Education - Awareness - Innovation)

- Economical (Ethics - Legality - Responsability)

At this moment the faith in political sphere is in crisis. Public bodies and the traditional decision-making processes are not able to solve alone the challenges of the contemporary world. It´s important to build a more inclusive participation, local action and involve civil society, especially the youth.

Elders have to consider young people in all decision-making processes and recognize the significance of youth empowerment and participation. This is the precondition to overcome different standpoints, work together and find shared solutions to common problems.

LiberaMente addresses its issues using the web and especially social media, because they represent a huge opportunity to engage young people and establish a real dialogue. We as young people are growing up in a constantly interconnected world - where the digital is part of the everyday. We as "digital natives" are shaping a new wired and wireless world and driving a communication revolution.
